Spring 1941

In a desperate bid for survival, a Jewish family flees their occupied home in Poland and takes refuge on a rural farm belonging to a sympathetic Christian woman, Emilia. As they hide from the Nazis, the family's doctor forms an unlikely bond with Emilia, who is haunted by her own past and struggles to reconcile her feelings for him with her need for companionship. But when Emilia becomes pregnant, she demands that Arthur prioritize his new role as a father over his loyalty to his Jewish family, forcing him to make an impossible choice.
