The Paperboy

In 1969, Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) returns to his Florida hometown of Lately to investigate a murder case involving death row inmate Hillary Van Wetter. Ward's younger brother Jack (Zac Efron), a college dropout working as a paperboy, becomes infatuated with Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman), an Alabama woman who believes Van Wetter is innocent and plans to marry him upon his exoneration. As the investigation unfolds, tensions rise among the group, particularly between Ward, Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo), and Jack, whose relationship with Charlotte becomes complicated by her open sexuality.
