The Pink Panther

When the coach of the France football team is killed by a poisoned dart in the stadium at the end of a game, and his huge, expensive ring with the Pink Panther diamond disappears, ambitious Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus assigns the worst police inspector – Jacques Clouseau – to the case. The film follows Clouseau's hilarious yet incompetent investigation as he draws media attention while secretly working on the case with the help of Gendarme Gilbert Ponton and falls in love with secretary Nicole Durant. Along the way, he discovers that many people hated Gluant, a French soccer coach, for various reasons, leading to a complex web of clues and suspects, including a jealous Russian trainer who ultimately becomes the killer.
