A corrupt New York City police lieutenant, struggling with a serious drug and gambling addiction, sets out to change his ways after investigating the rape of a young nun, but instead finds himself drawn into a world of crime and redemption in this gritty neo-noir drama. With graphic violence and unflinching honesty, director Abel Ferrara brings to life a character torn between his dark impulses and a desperate quest for salvation.
