Os Verdes Anos

In 1963, Portuguese director Paulo Rocha's debut feature film "Os Verdes Anos" (The Green Years) tells the story of Julio, played by Rui Gomes, a young shoemaker from the provinces who moves to Lisbon to start a new life, only to find himself entangled in a complicated relationship with Ilda, a confident young housemaid portrayed by Isabel Ruth. As Julio navigates his working-class values amidst the bourgeois trappings of modern life, he must confront the societal changes that threaten his way of living.
