Prison

In "Prison" (1949), director Ingmar Bergman explores the existential crisis of writer Thomas (Birger Malmsten), who becomes obsessed with a world that is hellish and ruled by the Devil instead of God, as discussed in a conversation with filmmaker Martin Grande (Hasse Ekman). Thomas's unhappiness leads him to form a doomed connection with teenage prostitute Birgitta Carolina Söderberg (Doris Svedlund), whose life is marked by prostitution and abuse.
