Bad Words

The film follows Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman), a forty-year-old misanthrope who enters the National Golden Quill Spelling Bee through a loophole in the rules. He wins a regional spelling bee and progresses to the national competition with the help of journalist Jenny Widgeon (Kathryn Hahn). There, he befriends Chaitanya Chopra (Rohan Chand), a 10-year-old entrant who tries to befriend him despite their vastly different personalities. As Guy navigates the competition, he confronts his troubled past and forms an unlikely bond with Chaitanya, leading to a surprising outcome that defies expectations.
