Scott Calvin must leave the North Pole to find a wife before Christmas Eve or risk losing his role as Santa, and in doing so, he must also navigate the challenges of being a single father to his teenage son Charlie, who is struggling to stay on the nice list. With the help of Toy Santa, an animatronic clone created by Head Elf Bernard, Scott must cover for his indefinite absence while searching for a wife and setting things right with Charlie. As Scott gets to know Carol Newman, his ex-wife's new husband's principal, he finds himself falling in love again, but struggles to reveal the truth about who he really is. In the end, Scott and Carol confess their feelings for each other, and Christmas proceeds as usual, with Scott transforming back into Santa Claus after fulfilling his obligations.
