Dillinger Is Dead

Glauco, a middle-aged industrial designer of gas masks, returns home after discussing alienation with a colleague at the factory. His wife is in bed with a headache but has left him dinner, which he finds dissatisfying. While preparing his own gourmet meal, he discovers an old revolver wrapped in a 1934 newspaper and cleans it while cooking; later, he paints it red with white polka dots. He watches television, listens to music, seduces their maid Sabine, repeatedly stages his own suicide, and eventually shoots his wife thrice in the head as she sleeps before leaving home to find a job on a yacht bound for Tahiti.
