The Story of Qiu Ju

Qiu Ju, played by Gong Li, is a peasant woman who travels to a nearby town and later a big city to deal with its bureaucrats and find justice after her husband is kicked in the groin by the village head, despite his pregnancy. Along the way, she meets a district police chief and a lawyer who takes her case, helping her navigate the complexities of Chinese bureaucracy. The film follows Qiu Ju's perseverance in seeking justice for her husband's mistreatment, ultimately leading to the village head's arrest and punishment.
