The Coachman

A man tries to raise his two sons and two daughters under adverse conditions, as their father struggles to make a living with a horse-drawn cart in a rapidly modernizing city. The eldest son (Kim Seung-ho) hopes to pass the bar exam to help alleviate the family's financial problems, while the eldest daughter (Jo Mi-ryeong), who is mute and married to an abusive husband, faces her own difficulties.
