The Browning Version is a 1994 British drama film about Andrew Crocker-Harris (Albert Finney), a veteran teacher of Greek and Latin at a British public school who faces forced retirement due to "health reasons." As he navigates his final term, Andrew's emotional guard begins to be let down through interactions with Taplow (a quiet pupil) and Frank Hunter (Matthew Modine), an American science teacher whom he distrusts. The film culminates in a poignant speech by Andrew at the school assembly, where he apologizes for his failures as a teacher and person, earning a newfound respect from his wife Laura (Greta Scacchi).
