Island of Lost Souls

The 1974 film "Island of Lost Souls" is based on Jose Leon Sanchez's novel and directed by Rene Cardona, starring Alejandro Ciangherotti Jr. as Jacinto, a man wrongly condemned to life in prison for killing Don Miguel, a cruel cacique played by Mario Almada. The harsh conditions and brutal regime of the island's authorities are disrupted when Colonel Venancio Salvatierra, played by Wolf Ruvinskis, declares himself president of an independent republic. This turn of events gives Jacinto an opportunity to escape, as his fellow prisoners' lives become increasingly affected by the colonel's madness.
