A Simple Wish

In this 1997 American children's-fantasy-comedy film, Martin Short plays Murray, a bumbling male fairy godmother trying to prove himself capable by helping 8-year-old Mara Wilson's character Anabel fulfill her wish that her father Robert Pastorelli's Broadway musical aspirations are fulfilled. Chaos ensues as Murray's magic wand is broken and the evil witches Kathleen Turner and Amanda Plummer cause trouble at a fairy convention, threatening the conventions' success and the wishes of those seeking help. With the help of Anabel and her brother Charlie, Murray must outsmart Claudia and Boots to fix his wand and grant Anabel's wish before midnight.
