Casting Blossoms to the Sky

In the wake of the devastating 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, a journalist embarks on a journey to Nagaoka, a city scarred by history: World War II's air raid and the 2004 Chūetsu earthquakes. There, she encounters a local stage play written by an enigmatic student of her ex-boyfriend, who invited her to report on the disaster and possibly rekindle their past. As she delves deeper into the city's experiences and traditions, she discovers a complex tapestry of Japanese views on war - then and now - woven from personal stories, cultural heritage, and collective trauma.
