Just Another Girl on the I.R.T.

Chantel Mitchell is a 17-year-old African-American high school junior living in Brooklyn, New York, who dreams of leaving her poor neighborhood to become a doctor and escape generational poverty. She breaks the fourth wall to share her aspirations, but personal and sexual challenges confront her on her way to fulfilling these dreams. With Ariyan A. Johnson delivering a magnetic performance as Chantel, the film explores themes of Black girlhood, ambition, teenage pregnancy, abortion, racism, poverty, and HIV/AIDS in 1990s New York City.
