A car accident brings together a group of previously unrelated people, each struggling to cope with their emotional fallout. Nickie's mother, Catherine (Carrie-Anne Moss), is consumed by grief and neglects her family; college professor Walter Braugher (Walter Braugher) grapples with self-doubt and strained relationships; Jordie (Kevin Zegers) has just been released from juvenile detention, haunted by his past mistakes.
