The Last Laugh

Emil Jannings stars as a hotel doorman who takes great pride in his work and position, but is demoted to a less demanding job at an old age, leading to social scorn from his friends and family. After being discovered in his humble new role, the doorman returns to his former hotel where he finds kindness from the night watchman. In the end, it's revealed that he has inherited a fortune, allowing him to reclaim his dignity as he dines lavishly with the night watchman and shows generosity to those around him.
