Daniel Day-Lewis stars as Jack Slavin, an environmentalist struggling with a heart condition, in this drama film about his isolated life on a commune island with his teenage daughter Rose (Camilla Belle), who develops complicated bonds with her mother's new family members, including her step-brothers Thaddius (Paul Dano) and Rodney. The family dynamics are fraught with tension as they navigate love, lust, and loss in their tight-knit household.
