A Happy Divorce

A young man is rescued from suicide and, as part of his recovery, makes a bet with his doctor that he can regain his joy in life. Jean-Baptiste Morin (Jean Rochefort), the recovering patient, unwittingly sets off a chain of complications when his doctor boasts about his own "happy divorce," which turns out to be an act of desperation rather than actual happiness - as the doctor yearns for reconciliation with his ex-wife Marguerite (Bulle Ogier).
