Hellbender

In a remote woodland home, a mother-daughter metal band lives a quiet existence under strict vegan and foraged diet rules, with Izzy isolated from others due to a non-existent autoimmune disease. When Izzy discovers her family's secret - they're Hellbenders, supernatural beings absorbing power from consumed living things - her relationship with her mother is challenged as she becomes increasingly power-hungry. As the rift grows, Izzy's transformation into a monstrous Hellbender accelerates, forcing her mother to confront the darkness of their isolated life and the true cost of controlling their forbidden magic. The film is a folk horror exploration of adolescent angst, parenting, witchcraft, and matriarchy, presented with dark humor and daring confidence by the filmmaking family who also starred in the project that inspired it.
