Tales from the Golden Age

A whimsical yet darkly comedic omnibus film composed of six vignettes set in Romania's late Communist period, each based on urban myths and reflecting the perspective of ordinary people. The film's narrative is woven from these humorous yet unsettling tales, which poke fun at the government's propaganda and the people's daily struggles during a time often referred to as the "Golden Age" of Ceaușescu's regime. From absurd events like a motorcade that never arrives to a policeman who kills his own pig, each episode is presented as an urban legend with a twist: no such thing could have happened, after all.
