The film "The Image You Missed" (2018) is an experimental essay film that weaves together a history of the Northern Irish 'Troubles' with the story of Arthur MacCaig's search for his estranged father, an Irish filmmaker who documented the conflict over 30 years. The movie draws on MacCaig's unique archive of footage to create a candid encounter between two filmmakers from different political moments.
