Our Lady of the Assassins

In "Our Lady of the Assassins", director Barbet Schroeder presents a bleak, darkly humorous drama about hopeless love in Medellín, Colombia, as a world-weary author returns to his hometown to find himself trapped in an atmosphere of violence and murder caused by drug cartel warfare. The film follows Fernando's unlikely relationship with Alexis, a beautiful but hardened street kid who lives by the rule of the gun, and their complicated bond that blurs the lines between love, loyalty, and survival. As their connection deepens, Fernando becomes entangled in a web of violence and betrayal, ultimately confronting the darkness that has consumed Medellín.
