They Rode West

A young cavalry doctor, Dr. Allen Seward (Robert Francis), arrives at a remote western fort to treat malaria-stricken Indians, defying orders from his superiors and commanding Colonel Ethan Waters' (Onslow Stevens) disapproval. He catches the eye of Laurie MacKaye (Donna Reed), the commander's niece, but finds himself drawn to Manyi-ten, a Kiowa woman who has become an advocate for her people's welfare. The Commanche, too, pose a threat, as Seward tries to prevent an epidemic and persuade Isatai, a tribal medicine man, to broker peace between the tribes.
