In 1979, a group of young filmmakers, including director RJ (Owen Campbell) and aspiring adult film star Maxine (Mia Goth in dual roles as Maxine and Pearl), arrive at an isolated rural Texas farmhouse owned by elderly couple Howard (Stephen Ure) and Pearl (Mia Goth). As they prepare to make a pornographic film, Pearl's unusual fixation on Maxine grows, culminating in a violent confrontation that sets off a deadly chain of events.
