In 1914, Pancho Villa invites studios to shoot his battles against Porfírio Diaz army to raise funds for financing guns and ammunition. The Mutual Film Corporation, through producer D.W. Griffith, interests in the proposition and sends filmmaker Frank Thayer (Eion Bailey) to negotiate a contract with Pancho Villa himself. The film opens in 1923 with Thayer receiving a letter in the mail alongside a medallion of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which leads him back to Mexico where he had previously filmed Villa's battles.
