In this transgressive, experimental drama, Todd Haynes weaves three interconnected narratives that blur the lines between crime, love, and social rejection. A seven-year-old boy shoots his abusive father, escapes into a world of documentary-style newsreels, and finds freedom in flight; a scientist's quest for "the elixir of human sexuality" becomes a deadly curse; and two imprisoned men, reunited as youth and again as adults, navigate the dark underbelly of desire.
