Young Frankenstein is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, a young neurosurgeon who inherits his grandfather's castle and resumes his grandfather's experiments in reanimating the dead with the help of Igor (Marty Feldman) and lab assistant Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn). The film is a parody of the classic horror film genre, particularly the various film adaptations of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
