After Dark, My Sweet follows Kevin "Kid" Collins, a drifter and former boxer played by Jason Patric, as he becomes embroiled in a kidnapping plot involving Charlie Vanderventer. Collins meets Fay Anderson, who lets him stay on her neglected property, but soon gets pulled into the scheme with Garrett "Uncle Bud" Stoker. As tensions rise, Collins must confront his own fragile mental state and the ruthless plans of those around him, leading to a tragic and desperate conclusion.
