George Clooney stars as Captain Jacob "Jake" Geismer, an American war correspondent investigating a murder mystery in post-war Berlin. He becomes entwined in both the mystery of his murdered driver and the search for Lena Brandt, a Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust by doing what she had to. The film's investigation connects with its themes of corruption, truth, and humanity as Jake searches for answers amidst the complexities of the Allied occupation.
