In 1974, a junior transcriber at the Nixon White House finds herself at the center of the Watergate scandal when she obtains the only copy of the infamous 18½-minute gap in Nixon's tapes. Shaken by what she has heard, she reaches out to a reporter from The New York Times, and their unlikely collaboration unfolds in a series of twists and turns as they navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries among motel guests and staff. As they pretend to be newlyweds to avoid drawing attention, the lines between trust and deception blur, threatening to upend everything they thought they knew about the scandal and themselves.
