Good Madam

In post-apartheid South Africa, Tsidi, a single mother, is forced to move in with her estranged mother Mavis, who lives as a live-in domestic worker caring obsessively for her catatonic white 'Madam'. As Tsidi tries to heal her family, a sinister spectre begins to stir. The film is a commentary on the contemporary state of race relations in South Africa, starring Chumisa Cosa as Tsidi, Nosipho Mtebe as Mavis, and Jennifer Boraine as Madam. Premiering at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, Good Madam received an honorable mention for the Platform Prize, earning praise from critics who praised its thought-provoking themes and slow-burning horror.
