The Conductor

A violinist in a provincial Polish orchestra, played by Krystyna Janda, becomes entangled in a complicated web of emotions when she reunites with a world-renowned conductor, John Lasocki (John Gielgud), who was once romantically involved with her mother. As Lasocki returns to Poland to lead the orchestra, he attempts to rekindle an old flame using the violinist as a proxy for her deceased mother. Meanwhile, her husband, Adam Pietryk (Andrzej Seweryn), harbors resentment towards Lasocki due to both personal and professional reasons.
