In 1348, seven women and three men flee Florence during the plague and take refuge in a Tuscan villa. As they try to survive, they pass the time telling each other stories that are varied and often bizarre. Paola Cortellesi's character Badessa Usimbalda is among those who share tales of love, lust, and mortality, with stories like Messer Gentile Garisendi's passionate pursuit of Catalina, played by Vittoria Puccini, which raises questions about loyalty and devotion.
