The Saragossa Manuscript

The Saragossa Manuscript follows two officers from opposing sides during the Napoleonic Wars who find a mysterious manuscript in a deserted house. The story is framed by the first officer's discovery of the book and his own grandfather's tale, Alfonso van Worden, who embarks on a series of adventures with two Moorish princesses, Emina and Zibelda. The film interweaves multiple nested tales told by the leader of a band of gypsies, featuring characters such as a Qabalist, a Romani person, and a cabalist, which shed new light on earlier experiences recounted by other characters.
