Ten years after his retirement, Colonel Steve Austin is pulled out of hiding by a crisis that threatens both his own life and the lives of those he cares about. When his estranged son Michael, a reckless pilot struggling to graduate from flight school, is severely injured in a crash, Steve must make the same difficult decision he made with Jaime Sommers years ago: fitting her with bionics after she was severely injured in a skydiving accident. As Steve and Jaime are forced back into action against a powerful paramilitary organization called Fortress, led by Steve's old foe Lyle Stenning, they must confront their own complicated past and the emotions that have been simmering beneath the surface of their long-lost relationship.
