The Cathedral

"The Cathedral" is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama film that offers an absorbing, impressionistic child's-eye look at family life over two decades. The film follows Jesse Damrosch from his birth in 1987 until his college acceptance at the age of twenty, weaving together familial drama and historical events like the AIDS-related death of his uncle Joseph and the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, against the backdrop of the presidency of George W. Bush.
