Three Thousand Years of Longing

Alithea Binnie, a British narratology scholar, travels to Istanbul to address a conference on myth versus science. There, she purchases an antique Çeşm-i Bülbül bottle and unleashes the Djinn trapped within it. The Djinn offers her three wishes, but Alithea is skeptical, having grown accustomed to dismissing supernatural entities as mere fantasies. As she hesitates, the Djinn tells her three tales of his past, weaving a complex web of longing, desire, and storytelling that ultimately reveals the depths of human connection and the nature of reality itself.
