Ben Shaw (Joshua Jackson) and his new wife Jane Shaw leave New York for Tokyo, Japan, where Ben has a job as a photographer. They start to find mysterious lights in their photos after a tragic car accident that killed a young girl. As they investigate, they discover that the lights are spirits of the dead, including the ghost of Megumi Tanaka, who was driven to suicide by Ben's actions, and begin to confront the dark secrets of their past.
