In this reimagining of Fritz Lang's 1956 classic, a young journalist sets himself up as a murderer to expose the unethical practices of a star prosecutor with a trumped-up conviction record, but finds himself unable to produce the evidence he had prepared to restore his innocence. A reporter investigates a dirty district attorney and concocts a scheme to frame himself for murder using circumstantial evidence, only to have the tables turned against him when the real culprit's actions are revealed. As the truth unfolds, the journalist is forced to confront the consequences of his own deception.
