A Fugitive from the Past

Three robbers escape with loot from a heist before one of them kills the others. Their corpses wash up near the aftermath of a maritime calamity, provoking a policeman's interest. Rentarō Mikuni plays Takichi Inukai and Sachiko Hidari plays Yae Sugito, a young geisha who shelters Inukai from a storm one night, only to be killed by him ten years later when she recognizes him in a newspaper article. Detective Ken Takakura investigates the case, tracing Inukai's steps as he tries to cover his tracks, ultimately leading to his downfall.
