In the 1930s, three friends—a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney—witness a murder, become suspects themselves and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history, based on a true story. The film follows Dr. Burt Berendsen (Christian Bale) and Harold Woodman (John David Washington), two veterans of WWI who return to New York City to find a world where they are not as welcome as they thought, amidst racial division and political corruption. As they delve deeper into the mystery, they team up with Valerie Bandenberg (Margot Robbie), a nurse and friend from their past, to expose a secret organization known as the "Committee of the Five" that plans to overthrow the American government, leading to a thrilling and unexpected confrontation.
