Florence Pugh stars as Lib Wright, an English nurse sent to a rural Irish village in 1862 to observe a young girl, Anna O'Donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy), who has allegedly fasted for four months without eating. There, she meets Anna's deeply religious family and a local journalist, William Byrne (Tom Burke), who becomes involved with her as they navigate the community's suspicions about Anna's supposed miracle.
