Dorothy Lamour stars as Lulu Belle, a singing cabaret performer in Natchez, Mississippi who marries George Davis, a rising young attorney, and later becomes the object of desire for boxer Butch Cooper. After Lulu leaves her husband to pursue a life with wealthy benefactor Harry Randolph, she finds success on Broadway but eventually realizes that she truly loves George, whom she had previously left behind.
