The Blazing Sun

In 1954's "The Blazing Sun," a wealthy landlord, Taher Pasha (Zaki Rostom), floods a village to prevent its peasant inhabitants from profiting from their crops. His daughter Amal (Faten Hamama) falls in love with Ahmed (Omar Sharif), a young engineer who seeks to improve the villagers' lives. As Amal returns home, she rekindles her childhood romance with Ahmed, but they become embroiled in a complex web of crime and deception involving her father, a local Sheikh, and a series of tragic events that ultimately lead to justice.
