In 1974, Sal Watts starred in "Solomon King," a gritty revenge thriller that launched his career as a blaxploitation icon. When his girlfriend is brutally murdered by Prince Hassan's coup in the Middle East, Solomon takes matters into his own hands, enlisting the help of his former special forces operative colleagues to stage a counter-coup and exact justice. This adrenaline-fueled action film was produced, written, and co-directed by Watts himself, driven by a desire to address criticisms of "blaxploitation movies" from within the African American community.
