40 Days and 40 Nights

Matt Sullivan (Josh Hartnett) vows to abstain from any sexual contact for 40 straight days, a decision made during Lent that initially has him in control but is disrupted when he meets Erica Sutton (Shannyn Sossamon), the woman of his dreams. As Matt navigates his celibacy, his coworkers and Ryan start a betting pool on how long he can last, complete with their own website, leading to comedic and awkward situations. With the help of his brother John (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is a Catholic priest-in-training, Matt tries to resist his urges but ultimately finds himself torn between his commitment and desire for Erica.
