My Memories of Old Beijing

In 1920s Beijing, six-year-old Yingzi (Shen Jie) befriends a mad widow, Xiuzhen, who stands vigil for her missing daughter Little Guizi, driven by grief and longing. As Yingzi explores the city streets, she also befriends a young thief (Zhang Fengyi), whose kindness and struggles with his circumstances leave an impression on her. When Xiuzhen's search ends in tragedy, and the family she cares for faces hardship and loss, Yingzi forms attachments to those around her, including her own nurse's husband and his children, before leaving Beijing as a young girl.
