A Walk in the Woods

Robert Redford stars as Bill Bryson, an over-the-hill writer who decides to hike the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail with his old friend Stephen Katz (Nick Nolte). After his wife (Emma Thompson) insists he get a partner, Katz reluctantly agrees to join him on the journey. Weeks pass; during an argument over a bottle of alcohol, Katz bitterly reveals that he doesn't drink from it -- he carries it as tangible reminder of his past battles with alcoholism and the losses it caused.
